The Piers Road Centre New Communities Association was established in 2007 as a resource and a hub for the benefit of formal and informal grassroots organisations belonging to migrant and refugee communities in Birmingham and surrounding areas of the West Midlands region.

                        Thank you Community Fund!!

Trustees and members of the grass-roots groups and other users of the Piers Road New Communities Centre are most grateful for the Big Lottery’s Community Fund for the generous grant of £10000 (Ten Thousand pounds) that was desperately needed to offset the impacts of COVID19 on our organisation and its communities that not only led to closure of the Centre for almost two years but also for some loss of life of some the leaders and activists of the communities and suffering of long term illnesses for a few individuals.

The Community Fund’s Awards for All funding has helped us to undertake much needed minor repairs, cleaning of all the building, installing four security cameras, re-designing a new website and social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram), purchasing IT equipment and other essential supplies.

The Piers Road Centre provides office space facilities and access to computing, internet, training and support to the grass-roots organisations. Prior to ‘COVID-19’ around 500 people a year received important help, advice and made life-enhancing contacts.

If you are in the West Midlands and need help, either personally with skills development and social inclusion or as a community group helping to maintain or develop  your organisation then we are here for you.

Food banks

Let’s help those people who are struggling to make ends meet and make a difference.

Food banks are grassroots, community organisations aimed at supporting people who cannot afford the essentials in life.

We are now preparing to run a food bank every other week from Tuesday 20th September 2022 and request local and large retailers in and around Handsworth/West Midlands to make regular food, drinks, snacks and personal essentials donations in order for us to sustain this project.
